Single-axis stepper controller is motor mountable

Trinamic's TMCM-110-42 single-axis stepper controller/driver, now available in the UK from Micromech, is an intelligent module designed to be mounted directly on a 42mm flange motor. The module converts the motor into a compact mechatronic device with bus oriented or stand-alone control.

The motor, switches, power and the multi-purpose I/Os can be connected via small plug-in connectors. It comes with the PC based software development environment, TMCL-IDE for the Trinamic Motion Control Language (TMCL), which uses high level commands like 'move to position' or 'constant rotation'.

The TMCM-110-42 can be controlled via an RS-232, RS-485, I²C or CAN interface and communication traffic is kept very low since all time critical operations, such as ramp calculation, are performed onboard.

The main features include, up to 16 times microstepping, memory for 2,048 TMCL commands, automatic ramp generation in hardware and on the fly alteration of motion parameters (e.g. position, velocity, acceleration). There is in additional stallGuard option for sensor-less motor stall detection, full step frequencies up to 20kHz and dynamic current control.

The module is available on its own or in combination with a 42mm motor (PANdrive) . The motor supply voltage is 7V to 34V and up to 1.1A coil current RMS (1.5A peak). Three different motor sizes are available.
