Enclosure cooling: meeting the customer's needs
When it comes to choosing the right fan and filter unit for enclosure
cooling, a balance has to be struck between reliability and airflow per
unit cost. Customers also require versatility and the freedom to choose
from a range of accessories that allow them to customise cooling systems
that are appropriate to the application. Rittal recognises these needs by
supplying a variety of options, from normal, fine or metal filters,
gaskets, stainless steel rain hoods and EMC shielding, to fans and fan
control devices.
Enclosures are now produced with cut-outs for the mounting of fan and
filter assemblies at strategic points, while internal fan mounting panels
help to avoid hot spots within enclosure interiors, as well as increasing
convention from the enclosure surface. Intelligent speed control has
increased the service life of cooling components and resulted in
significant noise reductions. Fans, themselves, come in many shapes and
sizes, offering a range of flow rates and the ability to operate from a
variety of power supplies.
