Magnetic Sensors Detect Rotational Speed And Direction

New sensors exploiting giant magnetoresistance technology are capable of sensing the rotational speed and direction of gear teeth in the temperature range -40 to +150oC. The GT series sensors from Rhopoint will tolerate larger air gaps to the target, compared with competing technologies, and are not destroyed by strong magnetic fields. They are available with analogue, sine/cosine or digital outputs and are supported by a signal processing IC that can be located away from the sensor.
