It’s out of the bag: ‘Synergy’ is set to redefine chain technology
Three years in the development, Renold’s new Synergy transmission chain
is claimed conservatively to have at least twice the wear life of
previous generation products and six times that of the best competitor’s
product. The new chain also withstands 20% higher bearing pressures, has
improved fatigue performance and fretting corrosion resistance.
Renold used advanced computer modelling and finite element analysis to
achieve an optimum chain design, plus advanced materials and surface
treatments that have resulted in a 50% improvement in bedding-in
performance. Maintenance, too, has been simplified, thanks to a novel
gold-coloured connecting link, which makes it easier to locate on dirty
applications.
