British Encoder Products is currently using Reli-a-Flex couplings from
Reliance Gear to connect encoders to motor shafts, in place of the
standard spiral beam coupling, which was formerly offered as an
accessory. Unlike the spiral beam coupling, Reli-a-Flex introduces
negligible radial and axial bearing loads. BEP says the Reliance units
have achieved 100% reliability in the time that they have been offered as
an alternative.
