Rapitypes To Deliver Us Injection Mould Tooling Process In Uk

Vantico has chosen Rapitypes as its UK partner for a new prototype injection mould tooling process, which is capable of producing larger components such as automotive instrument panels and other large trim parts much faster and more cost effectively than present methods. During UK trials of the new process, Rapitypes has developed new cooling techniques as well as 'cast-in' features such as sprue bushes and eject pins for the process. Using materials developed by Vantico, the process brings some novel features to prototype injection mould tooling, including the application of a high-grade, definition-producing gel coat to the surface of the master model. The new base material, which is subsequently added, is a composite of granular aluminium and epoxy resin that is capable of withstanding the high forces and pressures generated by large injection moulding tools. It also offers the option of a bolster-less system, should this be required.
