Copper has designs on the Internet

The European Copper Institute (ECI) has put a new website online dedicated to copper design: http://www.copperindesign.org/. A meetingplace for contemporary designers and their followers, this international platform provides a comprehensive source of information on the crafting of the red metal: copper creations, first-hand accounts from designers, exhibitions, competitions, etc. The site is aimed at creators, design professionals, journalists and all copper-loving netsurfers, offering them an invitation to (re)discover this material, the natural properties of which have established it over the past few years as an essential feature of the modern design scene.

An international platform dedicated to copper design, the website invites designers and design fans to explore a very special facet of the red metal. Created by the ECI following the success of the Il rame e la casa (Copper in the Home) competition and the biennial Abitare con il Rame (Living with Copper) in Milan, this resource site is the latest action in a comprehensive project to promote copper design carried out in partnership with the Italian Copper Institute.

The site is also a place for information, meetings and dialogue between designers from all over the world, manufacturers, artists, design students, journalists and all who love copper. Its aim is to stimulate the growing interest aroused by copper in contemporary designers, promote its assets and bring all sectors of the design public together around a metal that is fast becoming an essential feature of our lives.

The "Applications" section presents numerous examples of creations and objects in copper inside and outside the home. In the "Designer" space, artists and professionals who work with the red metal on a daily basis tell us about their experiences and creative approaches.  The site also describes the essential properties of copper, which make it a prime choice for designers.  The "News" section provides information on all events devoted to copper, including exhibitions, conferences, seminars and design competitions. If you subscribe to the free monthly newsletter, you will receive regular information about all these important occasions.
