Semiconductor reversing contactors with bimetal function

The new Contactron product family from Phoenix Contact provides three-phase ELR I 4 in 1 semiconductor reversing contactors as an electronic replacement for mechanical reversing contactor combinations. They combine four functions in one: right-rotation, left-rotation, motor protection relay, and emergency stop to category 3. Switching, reversal, and protection of motors up to 4 kW takes place in a small space of just 22.5 mm.

These compact and affordable devices save on space and wiring costs, while also providing a configurable bimetal function of up to 9 A. A microprocessor-controlled combination of robust relay technology with non-wearing semiconductor technology enables smooth, low-wear switching. This reduces the load on relay contacts and thereby increases their durability by 10 to 30 times compared to purely mechanical standard solutions.

Variants are available with control voltage switching with 24 VDC or 230 VAC. The semiconductor reversing contactors are well-suited for use in the chemical and petrochemical areas, among others. This product has an EC type examination certificate in accordance with ATEX.

Phoenix Contact is one of the world leaders in developing and manufacturing connectivity solutions and automation components. Its principal product ranges include: printed circuit board connectors; modular terminal blocks; fieldbus components; surge voltage protection systems; industrial plug and socket connectors and interface units. In all of these areas, Phoenix Contact can offer technical expertise and cost effective solutions.
