There's a fast and cost-effective way of making high strength pivot
points in sheet metal components varying in thickness from 0.8 to 1.5mm,

Profil UK. The Profil SZB is suitable for both self-piercing and
pre-pierced material applications, and when used in conjunction with
custom-made, automatic feeding and setting equipment, can be installed at
the rate of up to 40 units per minute - ten time faster than alternative
fixing methods, claims Profil.
The pivot fastener has a 6.5mm diameter shank, which is both shouldered
and riveted on installation to provide exceptional shear and pull-out
resistance. In tests, the ball pins deflect less than 1mm under a
standard 2kN cyclic load, outperforming equivalent riveted or weld nut
anchored pivots.
