Profibus releases slave redundancy spec
The slave redundancy specification for the Profibus fieldbus, providing
the basic mechanisms for redundant slaves used in multi-master control
systems, has been published by Profibus Group. The specification for
Profibus device description and device integration contains the
specification for GSD (basic Profibus device description), EDDL
(electronic device description language) and FDT (field device tool
interface). GSd, EDDL and FDT provide the means to configure network
devices and to parameterise and/or manipulate their operational modes.
Profibus UK members can download the documents from the web site, while
others can purchase a CD-ROM for £96 (not including VAT).
