Profibus International (PI) says it has started work on a
high-performance, real time bus for highly dynamic motion control
applications running under Profinet. With the introduction of its
Isochrone Realtime Solution, PI is now concentrating its efforts to
develop Profinet 3, which will be capable of controlling up to 150 axes
with a cycle time of 1ms and a jitter of less than 1microsecond. Fully
compatible with the TCP/IP standard, the Profinet 3 development relies on
the next generation switching technology that will open the way to higher
numbers of devices on large networks.
