Tapping into a rich source of adhesive products

Gessi is one of Italy’s leading makers of bathroom and kitchen appliances, and
its manufacturing process involves several steps in which parts have to be fitted and held reliably in place; that’s where Loctite comes into the picture.

Several tap and showerhead assemblies have chromated surfaces, and while anaerobic adhesives do not perform well on passive materials, Henkel Loctite’s recently introduced 2701 threadlocker does. The threadlocker is applied after cleaning with Loctite 7063.

When it comes to the assembly of water taps for hand wash basins, Gessi has opted for high strength Loctite 638. This product offers a single solution for both locking and sealing – even at room temperature.  Beyond that, product approvals mean that Loctite 638 can be used for parts that come into contact with drinking water.

Although Gessi appliances are designed to last a lifetime, there are occasions when servicing is required. For parts that might need disassembling, another threadlocker – medium strength 243 – is used. Like all other engineering adhesives, the one bottle of adhesive is suitable for threads of all sizes and shapes.

The relationship between Gessi and Henkel means that specialist adhesives technicians are regularly on hand to solve problems and supply appropriate products for each application.
