Metric Cubic Screw Jacks For Higher Duty Cycle Applications

Power Jacks' S-Series metric cubic screw jacks offer higher duty cycle and better mounting flexibility compared with conventional worm gear screw jacks. The higher duty cycle of the S-Series has been achieved by improving the thermal efficiency of the gearbox. The cubic shape and finned sections of the gearbox housing allows better heat dissipation, while its higher mass increases thermal capacity. Maintaining full lubricant contact with the gear teeth also reduces wear and aids cooling. Achieving a balance between surface area and mass is actually quite critical, as both have an impact on thermal performance. The results of tests show that S-Series screw jacks offer 50% higher duty cycle than conventional worm gear screw jacks, irrespective of the lifting screw efficiency. Three standard gear ratios are available, with two different lifting screw leads - combinations of which provide a multitude of linear travel rates in translating or rotating screw form. A range of standard motor adaptors can be bolted directly to the gearbox housing.
