Power Jacks' Rolaram linear motion actuator is suitable for medium to
high duty applications involving 5 to 400kN loads travelling at speeds of
up to 117mm/s. The lead screw-based actuation unit is offered in two
configurations: ball screw and nut (medium duty) and roller screw and nut
(medium to high duty). The roller screw is Power Jacks' own Spiracon
design, which comprises a multi-start screw with involute thread form,
plus a number of planetary rollers with annular grooves that engage with
the screw.
The driving unit is either a helical or bevel gearbox that allows the
motor to be mounted either parallel to, in-line with or at right angles
to the actuation unit. Depending upon the accuracy of positioning
required, Rolaram can be fitted with encoders, electrical or mechanical
limit switches or clutches. Ram mounting options include classic trunnion
to clevis and double-clevis arrangements.
