Zuken has released E3.WireWorks, a new design tool for wiring, harnesses, cable assemblies, and panel layouts. Integrated with SolidWorks Premium Routing, E3.WireWorks enables electrical engineers to design, layout and route wiring in cabinets and control panels. E3.WireWorks is available exclusively through SolidWorks’ value added resellers.
E3.WireWorks’ design approach stores circuit diagrams, cabinet and panel layouts, and nail board drawings in one multi-view project file, automatically syncing all drawings and the BOM. When you make a change in one view (e.g., schematic), it automatically changes in the other views (e.g., cable, harness, panel, and BOM). Its electrically intelligent online DRC automatically prevents errors such as inappropriate wire sizes in terminals, short circuits between signal types, and wires that are not within the min/max specified in the library part.
E3.WireWorks’ close integration with SolidWorks Premium Routing passes netlist (from-to connections), cable information (colour, AWG), and component data (part name, pins, and associativity) between E3.WireWorks and SolidWorks. It also supports the generation of manufacturing documentation by returning routed segment and wire length information from SolidWorks to E3.WireWorks . Additionally, bidirectional highlighting enables engineers to collaborate on design issues. For even greater productivity gains, the integration also ties into SolidWorks Enterprise PDM for data management, workflow, and lifecycle control.
