Peratech has won Best of Sensors Expo Technologies Gold Award for its QTC
(quantum tunnelling composite) Pills - devices that can transform from
virtually a perfect insulator to a metal-like conductor when deformed by
compression, twisting or stretching. Their resistance goes from greater
than 10MOhm to less than 1Ohm over a smooth, repeatable curve that drops
exponentially. The response can be tuned to the applied force and is
reversible. Key applications areas include touch sensitive control
devices in anything from toys to medical equipment, spark-less safety
switches and touch-sensitive robot finger tips.
