Smoother Actuation Means Lower System Costs

Parker Hannifin's Cylinder Division has introduced a novel self-compensating, tapered-flat cushion spear design, which enhances the smooth acceleration and deceleration of the company's HTR series rotary actuators. The 'Decelerator' cushion spear configuration is now incorporated in all HTR rotary actuators fitted with optional end-of-travel cushioning. The system creates a progressive and effective deceleration rate that minimises internal actuator loading. This, in turn, reduces the levels of shock transmitted to the transfer line or handling system, allowing the use of lighter constructions and avoiding the need for costly additional hardware such as external shock absorbers or closed loop electronic control systems.
