SIL 2 and 3 compliant controllers for off-highway electro-hydraulic applications

Two new, high-performance controllers have been added to Eaton’s F(x) electro-hydraulic product portfolio. The new SFX 1000 and SFX 2000 controllers offer higher operating speeds than Eaton’s EFX controllers, and meet the Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 2 and 3 requirements of the off-highway industry. Typical applications for the new SFX controllers include excavators, forestry equipment, telehandlers, utility vehicles, cranes, agricultural machinery, paving equipment, and other specialty vehicles.

SFX 1000 specifications include:
 A 40 MHz, MPC 555 processor
 448 kB of internal flash memory
 26 kB of internal random access memory
 512 kB of external random access memory
 2 MB of external flash memory
 16 kbit EEPROM
 1 RS-232 and 1 LIN serial interface
 2 CAN, 125 to 500 kbit/s
 A variety of analog and digital I/O
 Internal monitoring of board temperature and sensor supply and battery voltages
 An injection molded aluminum housing, with splash-proof connectors, pressure adjusting water barriers, and cooling fins

SFX 2000 specifications add to these:
 An option for 1 MB of external random access memory
 1 TTP bus with redundant channels
 An AS 8202 NF TTP communication controller

Both of the new SFX controllers are programmed via Eaton’s intuitive CONTROL F(x) programming software.
