The Logical Alternative To Machine Safety Control

Omron's G9SX is a flexible safety unit that provides a transparent, logical connection throughout an entire machine, enabling any segment to be shut down according to its safety layout. This arrangement allows a faulty process to be isolated and dealt with, rather than shutting down the entire machine.Three versions are available: the G9SX-BC basic unit, G9SX-AD advanced unit and G9SX-EX expansion unit. A hard-wired 'safety carrier' signal forms a logical connection between these units and the machine, producing a parallel-wired structure of logical 'AND' connections to determine a partial or complete shut down. This replaces the complex combination of conventional relay outputs and provides a continuous system check. The basic unit offers two solid-state safety outputs, two logical AND outputs, two auxiliary monitoring outputs and six LED indicators, and performs an emergency stop function to shut down an entire machine. The advanced unit can be connected to the basic unit or other advanced units to shut down individual sections of a machine. The advanced unit offers five solid-state safety outputs (two of which can be used with off-delay), one logical AND output, two auxiliary monitoring outputs and eight LED indicators. Up to four advanced units can be connected in parallel to one logical AND output as the machine's safety requirements grow. The expansion units can be used in complex machines that require multiple safety output paths. Each of these units provides four relay outputs, and up to five expansion units can be connected together to one advanced unit to provide up to 25 outputs.
