Omron's SmartStep for easy point-to-point positioning
Omron has introduced the SmartStep range of servomotors and drives for
point-to-point positioning tasks. Claimed to be as easy to set up as a
stepper motor system, SmartStep features an autotune facility and the
choice of two operating modes: 'easy' and 'advanced'.
In easy mode, no special parameter settings or tuning are needed. Users
make simple settings using DIP switches, and choose one of four gain
levels to adjust the motor's responsiveness. Advanced mode set-up is via
PC software or handheld operator terminal, which enable the system's full
range of options to be brought into play.
