Detecting Transparent Objects

Omron has added three variants to its E3Z family of photosensors, to cover the detection of clear PET bottles and transparent films. The E3Z-B retroreflective series, which is suitable for PET bottle detection, uses a powerful light source to overcome the problems of beam scattering, while the E3Z-L diffuse reflection type uses a narrow 2.5mm wide beam to detect targets as small as 0.1mm diameter. The E3Z-G tuning fork through-beam model comes with single and dual sensor arrangements for belt and web tension monitoring, its construction ensuring correct sensor/light source alignment at all times.
