Joining wooden panels to extruded aluminium frame profiles

A new, speedy method for securing chipboard or timber tops to work bench frames made from the Item Line-8 aluminium profile system is now available from Machine Building Systems. It consists of a substantial steel clip pressing inside a plastic outer shell which with one hand can be inserted onto the aluminium profile frame, and is retained in the T-slot such that it can be slid to the desired position without falling out. The work top is then lowered onto the frame, and a Torx-head self-tapping screw (supplied as part of the set) is driven through the slot in the fastening set directly into the timber from below, clamping the top securely on the profile. This method offers a much more rapid assembly time than previously possible, as no drilling or tapping of any part is required.
