3M Touch Systems has introduced a new touch technology platform called
Interactive Surface Technology (IST) that widens the possibilities of
touch panel implementation in outdoor applications, mobile and handheld
devices and automotive on/off-display systems. MicroTouch IST features a
flexible polyester interactive touch surface layer that can be laminated
to the front and back of any non-conducting substrate, both flat and
contoured. It also supports 'on-display' use with LCD panels or
'off-display' uses creating touch pad or button interfaces that do not
use a display.
