It’s Non-Contact Balls For A Quieter Ride

NSK-RHP’s S1 series ball screws and linear guides have plastic retainers that prevent direct ball-to-ball contact, resulting in lower noise and vibration, and smoother running at low speeds. The configuration also boosts the dynamic load capacity by 50%, compared with similar models employing spacer balls. RHP says the S1 ball screw provides 60% greater stiffness than those with spacer balls and just 5% less stiffness than designs with large balls (and thus higher levels of friction). Noise reduction for the linear guides is up to 10dB, while for the ball screws it is around 7dB.
