The R&W manufactured SK range of torque limiting clutches, which is
available in the UK from Motor Technology, is capable of separating
driven and driving components within milliseconds of the onset of an
overload condition. There are four versions, all backlash-free and
offering torque handling capacities from 0.1 to 2,500Nm. Variants include
single position re-engagement, multi-position, load-holding and
free-wheeling.
The single position re-engagement variant enables the coupling to be
re-engaged precisely 360o from the point of re-engagement, while the
multi-position type allows the coupling to re-engage at the very next
position. The load-holding variant is suitable for applications in which
the drive and driven face are not separated, and the free-wheeling clutch
ensures permanent separation in the event of an overload.
