Subsea coupling introduced

Stäubli Connectors has introduced a new coupling specifically designed for the requirements of subsea operations.

Stäubli’s COS 08 coupling provides a high pressure connection suitable for turbulent underwater environments, with the capability of connection and disconnection under pressure. The 770bar non-spill design of the coupling is pressure balanced, so an operator needs only to overcome the resistance of the springs when connecting and disconnecting. The design incorporates no seals in the flow path, an advantage present in other Stäubli coupling designs. This allows for high flows and the prevention or ingress of impurities into the fluid system.

The coupling is already being used for offshore subsea stab plates and manifolds, and is now also offered with a threaded option for manual connection/disconnection by divers in turbulent subsea environments and on ROVs.
