Thanks to their patented Rotafente copper-graphite commutation system, miniature motors in the new Portescap 35GLT range from Delta Line Europe offer exceptionally high torque and acceleration, combined with extended operational life.
Compact and highly resistant to mechanical damage, the Rotafente system also has a large number of coil exits on the commutator, which means that torque ripple is virtually eliminated.
Designed for operation from 24, 48 or 90V dc supplies, the 35GLT motors have a nominal output power of 150W - the largest output for any readily available 35mm diameter motor. Stall torque is up to 1,487 mNm, depending on the model, and the motors are available with no-load speeds up to 7,500 rpm.
These innovative (yet compact) motors feature ironless construction, which means that there are no iron losses, and that there is complete freedom from cogging. Control over the motors is facilitated by a linear speed-torque characteristic, and instantaneous speed can readily be ascertained by back-EMF sampling.
The efficiency of the motors is high, as friction and losses are small and, for the same reason, their breakaway voltage is low. This makes the motors an ideal choice for use in battery-powered applications, where their low no-load current is also an important advantage.
Portescap 35GLT motors from Delta Line Europe measure 35mm in diameter by 67mm in length, and are fully interchangeable with a wide range of standard motors, allowing them to be easily used as an upgrade without the need for costly design changes. The motors weigh just 360g, and have an operating temperature range of -30º to +125ºC.
