E-View, from Mitsubishi Electric, is a new software based HMI system that
fills a unique gap in the automation marketplace, sitting between
dedicated HMIs and PC based SCADA.
The construction of user screens and interactive functions such as recipe
handling, are built in the same way as a traditional HMI, making it a
quick starting, cost-efficient solution. This simplistic approach to
complex features makes it very easy for HMI users to switch to a PC based
solution, without any training or hours wasted on configuration. When
used with a touch screen HMI the touch key elements allow an operator to
manoeuvre dynamic objects such as analogue slide switches, bargraphs and
meters or simple switches and lamps, by simply touching the object rather
than controlling a mouse or tracker ball. However, if the user needs to
retain traditional PC interfacing, E-View has no difficulty in
interfacing via a keyboard or mouse.
