Optimised surface capacitive touch system for small displays

3M Touch Systems, a division of diversified technology company 3M, has announced the availability of a new surface capacitive touch system designed specifically to meet the demanding requirements of applications such as video phones, washing machines, retail point-of-purchase (POP) and small all-in-one devices, using 5.7” to 12.1” LCD displays. The MicroTouch SCT3250CX system provides superior surface durability and optical transmission for device manufacturers requiring ultra reliable and high brightness touch displays.

The SCT system integrates a MicroTouch Sensor SCT3250 and the newly-released MicroTouch Controller CX. With a reduced component count and slim 0.8” x 1.9” board, this USB-HID controller is up to 54% smaller and requires up to 25% less power compared to typical 5-wire resistive options, making it ideal for compact touch devices with limited board space and low power requirements.
