The magnetic drive configuration of Finish Thompson’s Vertimag pump
provides a solution to the generation of micro-bubbles and their
associated problems for printed circuit board manufacturers. The design
ensures an airtight, sealed column that eliminates the need for ‘weep’
holes where air can enter the system and subsequently form tiny bubbles
that can adversely affect plating processes. This airtight column also
reduces environmental emissions and protects the pump motor from
corrosive vapours.
Available in the UK from Michael Smith Engineers, the Vertimag pump can
handle liquids with specific gravities up to 1.8 and is available in a
choice of chemically resistant plastics. Lengths are from 30cm to 2.4m in
15cm increments and the maximum operating temperature is 104oC. The pumps
can be mounted inside or outside a tank; they have no wetted shaft
bearings and accept standard IEC motors.
