Trelleborg Sealing Solutions has launched its new Turcon Roto VL Seal. The seal’s uniquely compact form makes it ideal for specification in dynamic applications where there is limited space or for fitment into standard o-ring grooves. It is primarily intended for constant service in demanding situations where there are rotary, swivelling or helical movements at medium-to-high system pressure.
The seal is developed from the proven Turcon VL Seal, and like this, consists of an L-shaped Turcon seal that is energised by a static o-ring. The new product is a non-symmetric single-acting seal designed to optimise the sealing performance under various pressure and surface velocity conditions.
“A unique feature of the new Turcon Roto VL Seal is that, due to decreased hardware requirements, it can fit into much smaller spaces than traditional rotary seals,” says Thomas Sandholdt, product manager for Trelleborg Sealing Solutions. “It is also an excellent choice where standard O-Ring housing grooves are preferred.”
Some applications where the new Turcon Roto VL Seal would be found are: rolling mills, machine tools, hydraulic swivels, injection moulding machines, valve spindles, food processing (blenders and mixers), hydraulic steering units, forestry machines and cranes, rotators for handling devices, vane actuators/motors, hydraulic motors, hydraulic pumps, propeller thrusters and ROVs (remotely operated vehicles).
