Designing For Total Standards Compliance

‘Requirements management’ is the process of capturing, organising, tracing and managing project requirements and measuring the impact of change throughout a project's lifecycle. DOORS (Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System) is one such system from Quality Systems & Software (QSS); it enables users to include a vast number of requirements in their product design, production and delivery to ensure full compliance with specified standards. MathWorks subsidiary, Cambridge Control has now developed an interface that integrates this package with its Matlab, Simulink and Stateflow technical computing software, allowing DOORS and MathWorks products to manage requirements throughout the development lifecycle of mid to large-scale technical projects. The graphical user interface, or 'Navigator' allows users to move easily between DOORS documents and Matlab M-files, Simulink models and Stateflow diagrams. Users can modify and delete requirements quickly and easily and analyse the impact changes will have on models and prototypes.
