Rittal awarded international gold standard for global sustainability

Rittal has been awarded a prestigious Gold Medal rating from EcoVadis, placing it in the top five percent of companies worldwide for sustainability performance.

The award recognises decades of ongoing investment by Rittal in energy-efficient technology and responsible global operations.

The EcoVadis Gold Medal is based on international benchmarks, including the UN Global Compact principles, ILO conventions, ISO 26000 and the GRI standards.

Businesses are rigorously assessed across criteria that cover environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.

Philipp Guth, Rittal’s Chief Technology Officer, commented: "As a family-run business and global player, we aim to act responsibly in the interests of people and safeguard our livelihoods for future generations in everything we do.

“We operate in global markets and supply chains with this attitude, ensuring we are 100 percent reliable as a supplier for our customers."

Tangible impact across the value chain
Rittal’s Gold award recognises its consistent, globally sustainable management strategy and supply chain transparency.
The company has implemented advanced CO2 emissions monitoring across its operations, alongside ambitious energy-saving initiatives. In 2024 alone, these delivered savings of several million kilowatt-hours of energy.

The company’s investment in product innovation was also recognised. Rittal’s Blue e+ climate control units, used widely across manufacturing and production plants, reduce energy consumption for customers by up to 75 percent. This translates to an estimated saving of one tonne of CO2 per device each year.

In parallel, Rittal has introduced Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) data for many products, giving customers online access to emissions figures and supporting Scope 3 reporting.

It enforces strict environmental and ethical standards across its global supply chain, ensuring all partners meet its rigorous compliance benchmarks for responsible sourcing.

Furthermore, this commitment to sustainability is matched by a focus on digital security.

The company holds ISO 27001 certification for information security, offering reassurance of its integrity and robust system management to customers operating in data centres and other critical infrastructure.

Trusted partner to UK industry
The EcoVadis Gold Medal cements Rittal’s position as a trusted partner to UK companies as they respond to rising energy costs and the pressure to transition to net-zero carbon.

The award aligns with Rittal’s broader strategy of enabling customers to scale efficiently and sustainably through AI and cloud-based data management, machine learning and automation.

Rittal’s solutions offer more than just infrastructure. They are integrated, digitally enabled platforms that support operational efficiency and reliability, while also meeting the highest standards in environmental accreditation.
