Motor load monitoring: Modern protection for modern machines

Load monitors have become crucial in reducing downtime and enhancing efficiency, yet many control panel builders still struggle with selecting the right monitoring technology for their operations. Here, we sit down with Malcolm Greenhill, founder of Charter Controls, to debunk the common misconceptions around motor-driven protection.

How should panel builders go about selecting the right load monitoring system? Is it simply a case of choosing the cheapest option available? 
Customers are using load monitors for a variety of reasons. In particular, operational efficiency and reduction of downtime are obviously very, very important. 

However, many panel builders still rely on current-based overloads and view load monitors as ‘optional’. This has always been one of the biggest issues we face.
