Inside the tech driving the future of police cars: An engineering partnership in action

In this exclusive interview, DPA sits down with Tom Haye of Opses and Martyn Buxton of LB Enclosures to get an inside look at how the partnership between the two companies is set to transform the way police, fire, and ambulance services operate.

First of all, what is Opses and how does it function?
Tom: Opses is an OEM touchscreen specialist that exists to make drivers drive more safely in the police, fire and ambulance world. Our
touchscreen technology controls things like lights, tablets, radios, and number plate recognition systems. By decluttering the dashboard, we provide a safer environment for drivers to use their emergency equipment and utilise the OEM touchscreen, which is
now standard across all emergency vehicles.

How has LB Enclosures supported you in this work?
Tom: From the start of our journey, we needed a partner to develop and supply an enclosure to host our
PCBs. Our engineers designed the PCB, the hardware, and we also wrote the software and firmware. However, we needed a partner actually to provide the right type of enclosure to be used in vehicles. So, we
approached LB Enclosures. In fact, our PCBs had been designed specifically to fit into LB Enclosures' hardware. This has led to many other projects with which LB Enclosures has helped us.
