EMS to spotlight custom design and advanced motion control at EDS

Electro Mechanical Systems (EMS) will exhibit at the Engineering Design Show at Coventry Building Society Arena on 8 and 9 October 2025.

From stand E55, EMS will display a range of solutions, including high-torque gearheads and recently launched FAULHABER motion controllers. The company’s design lead will also be available at the stand to discuss EMS’ in-house custom design offering.

As the UK’s largest show dedicated from mechanical, electronics and embedded design, the Engineering Design Show to gathers over 200 exhibitors and over 4,000 visitors.

For another year, EMS will return to the event to exhibit a range of micro-drive solutions. Expanding on the GPT family of gearheads, FAULHABER’s maximum torque gearheads, 22GPT HT and 32GPT HT, feature refined
geometries that deliver greater load capacity, smoother dynamics, and maximum performance. 

Offering three or four gear stages, a broad choice of reduction ratios and an operating temperature range from -30°C to +120°C, the range is highly versatile and particularly well suited to larger drives with dynamic motion profiles.

The 22GPT HT and 32GPT HT models are designed with full stainless-steel housing, providing exceptional strength, stability and resistance to harsh conditions. 

This robust design supports high radial and axial load capacities, which ensures dependable performance and long service life, even in tough conditions such as sudden load changes
or emergency stops.

Meanwhile, FAULHABER’s new MC 3602 B and MC 3606 B motion controllers make the selection and commissioning of drive systems even easier. 

With the compact MC variations, DC motors, brushless DC motors and linear motors can be operated with typical position encoders as servo drive in accordance with CiA 402. 

The motion controllers also enable the support of stepper motors with an encoder as a servo or without an encoder in open-loop operation. 

The MC 3602 B variant is equipped with up to 2A of continuous output current for smaller motors, while the MC
3606 B variant has up to 6A of continuous output current for medium-sized motors.

Besides supplying a range of micro drive solutions, EMS also offers a comprehensive custom design service, based out of its facility in Dorset. 

To talk visitors through the service, Chris Handcock, EMS’s Design Lead, will be available at the stand.
