Demystifying compliance: How to build a compliant machine

Building a machine that meets UK compliance requirements is essential for safety, legal conformity and market access. However, the process can be complex and overwhelming, with multiple layers of legislation and standards to consider. Why is it crucial for manufacturers to ensure machinery compliance from the very start – and what are the risks of getting it wrong? 
The main risk of getting it wrong is that, under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, there is a key legal requirement to provide a safe and compliant machine. It’s the law. Failure to comply can therefore lead to serious consequences, ranging from legal penalties to endangering the lives of operators.
