UK manufacturing: Re-igniting the fire

Following his comments on the manufacturing supply chain in DPA’s April 2025 issue, Roger Haw, CEO of Flame Hardeners Ltd., offers his personal thoughts on UK manufacturing in the light of the current world situation.

The global landscape has changed dramatically since April, and my first thought is that we have to address the
political mess in which the world finds itself. 

Foremost, we have an American situation whereby import tax can be altered
overnight at the whim and fancy of the administration. Throughout my working life, trade agreements and partnerships between countries
have been negotiated and honoured; there has never been such a thing as a ‘deal’. 

Secondly, in my opinion, we
have an administration in the UK that has a limited understanding or experience of business.
