I recently had the opportunity to attend the Robotics and Automation 2025: Powering Your Future conference, hosted by the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC).

Over the course of two days, delegates from industry, the Government, and academia converged in Coventry to address the future of UK manufacturing. Here are the key takeaways…

“To reverse the slow decline we've had over many years, we must change,” was the rallying cry from Mike Wilson, Chief Automation Officer of the MTC.

In his opening remarks, Wilson noted that while the UK remains the 12th largest manufacturing nation in the world, it ranks only 23rd in robot density– a glaring mismatch that, in Wilson’s words, “tells us that other nations are embracing robotics and reaping rewards” while we fall behind.
