New pinch valve enhances safety and efficiency for single-use biopharma applications

The leading flow control specialist, Bürkert, has unveiled the Type 2707 pinch valve, designed specifically to meet the rigorous demands of single-use biopharma processes.

Combining process safety, reliability, and simple integration, the new valve features a robust stainless steel locking and pinch mechanism that optimises flow while protecting tube integrity.

Versatile design for diverse applications
Available in modulating control and on/off versions, the Type 2707 offers flexibility across a wide range of applications, including tangential flow filtration, chromatography pressure control, single-use bioreactors, and filling and dosing skids.

Its externally controlled design, with a choice of pneumatic actuators and an interchangeable tube holder, makes it easy to adapt to various single-use assemblies and tube diameters.

For precision control, users can select Element actuators equipped with analogue or digital positioners, integrated pneumatic control, and a position indicator LED. An autotune function speeds up commissioning, while digital connectivity via CANopen, Asi, and IO-Link ensures seamless integration and diagnostic capability.

For straightforward applications, the Classic actuator provides reliable on/off control with optional position feedback and a compact footprint ideal for space-constrained installations.

Engineered for durability and hygiene
Across both control versions, the valve’s stainless steel construction guarantees long-lasting durability and reliable performance. Designed with hygiene in mind, it resists corrosion and is fully compatible with biopharma cleaning and disinfection liquids, ensuring high chemical resistance and prolonged service life.

Smart tube handling for optimal flow
Ease of use is a key advantage of the Type 2707. Its innovative sphere-shaped compressor and tube holder partially enclose the tube, placing minimal mechanical load during operation. This design ensures a secure seal with only gentle pinching, minimising tube stress and optimising flow efficiency.

Installation is straightforward: tubes are inserted from the bottom of the valve, eliminating the need for bending or stretching, and secured effortlessly with one-hand operation of the locking mechanism. The hose tube holder can be quickly adapted to accommodate a broad range of tube sizes, from 1/8” ID (1/4” OD) to 1” ID (1½” OD), making changeovers simple and fast.

Flexible installation options
Designed for cabinet and machine integration, the Type 2707 supports through-wall and panel mounting and can also be installed on transfer or distribution racks. Its compact, modular design speeds up both initial setup and routine maintenance, supporting the high operational demands of biopharma production environments.

With its combination of precision, hygiene, and user-friendly features, the new Type 2707 Pinch Valve sets a new standard for single-use flow control in biopharma applications.
