Leuze Mayser proves nine into one does go!
Leuze Mayser has introduced a range of sensors, which presently offers
nine different sensing technologies in one common housing style. The
Series 8 provides clear object, glossy film, laser, distance measurement
and ultrasonic sensors, contrast scanners, scanners with background
suppression, bar code readers, safety light barriers and even fibre optic
amplifiers - all in same-size housings with standard M12 connector, and
supported by a wide range of mounting fixtures.
The key benefit to the machine builder is that these multiple functions
are available in exactly the same sized box, so only one set of
dimensions needs to be known for design purposes. Typical packaging
machine applications, for example, include stack control, object
tracking, colour recognition, level monitoring, height and width
measurement, positioning and container in-feed control.
Each sensor function is supplied in a metal housing with chemical
resistant finish, measuring 38x48x15mm and protected to IP67. Features
include self-teach for easy commissioning, an M12 connector that can be
turned through 90o to suit a particular orientation, and Leuze's active
light suppression system, A2LS, which provides reliable protection
against unwanted spurious light effects. A2LS works by shifting the
sensor's signal frequency or phase when it detects spurious light that is
similar or identical to the sensor's own signal specification.
