Speed is of the essence. It’s a common phrase that is used a lot in the business world, but one that applies perfectly to what 3D printing can bring to the world of rapid prototyping.

I suppose the
clue is in the title. If you want to design and quickly make something to test a theory or a different type of material – or, indeed, even prove something doesn’t work – then you want to use a
manufacturing technique that is not going to take ages or cost you lots of money, money that can be better spent rolling out production.

Additive manufacturing does just that. It’s not a secret, we’ve been supporting over 50 global customers
in rapidly prototyping parts for more than seven years, giving them the answers to questions they desperately want answered.

This predominantly has been for firms in the hypercar space where they are pushing performance to the next level, although
3D printing can also prove hugely beneficial for new aeroplane parts, medical devices and, a new one for us, pest control.

But why is additive manufacturing such a powerful ally to design, engineering and manufacturing businesses?
