Corrosion resistant hub connectors offer backlash-free joints
A range of stainless steel locking bushes, manufactured by Swedish
company ETP, is now available in the UK from Lenze. Avoiding the need for
keyways, shaft steps, circlips and collars, these bushes connect between
shafts and hubs, pulleys, cans and gears with easy setting and
adjustment. The joint is backlash free, easy to unfasten and is also
reusable.
The leading model in the range is the ETP-Express R for shaft diameters
from 15 to 60mm. This bush has a single, radially mounted fixing screw
that pressurises a chamber between the inner and outer walls (ETP's
hydromechanical principle). These walls expand outwards against the shaft
and hub, creating a rigid joint. On loosening the screw, the bush returns
to its original dimensions for easy dismantling.
The ETP Classic R model features four to nine axial fitting screws, and
installation is also based on ETP's hydromechanical method. Completing
the range is the ETP-Mini R miniature mechanical locking bushes for shaft
sizes from 6 to 14mm, which are based on the more conventional sliding
taper configuration.
