Sherborne Sensors has launched its SS2 ultra low range force transducer utilising its Silicon Sensing Technology to deliver highly reliable measurements of ±30g.
The SS2 force transducer has been engineered specifically for the precision measurement of extremely low forces in the range of ±30g. The sensor is designed around Sherborne Sensors unique Silicon Sensing Technology (SST) conferring excellent sensitivity whilst eliminating fragility and minimising temperature errors associated with other types of low range force sensor.
The design features excellent immunity to the effects of eccentric loading, side loading and bending moments. Forces may be applied either in tension or compression and alternative loading adaptors are available. The low deflection and consequent high frequency response ensures that the unit is suitable for measuring peak and transient forces.
The sensor is suitable for many demanding applications across a range of sectors such as medical, research and development, aerospace and defence and industrial.
Mike Baker, managing director of Sherborne Sensors, explains: “Our new SS2 force transducer is one of a number of sensors that now utilise our Silicon Sensing Technology. We have engineered this unique technology to overcome the well known issues associated with semi-conductor strain gauges enabling us to deliver force transducers that meet the needs of the most demanding of customer applications where reliable and consistent measurements of ultra low forces are required. Our Silicon Sensing Technology also gives us the ability to engineer short lead-time bespoke solutions for clients who have requirements that cannot be met from our standard range."
