TFC’s Laminar Sealing Rings can now be delivered quicker than ever, with standard ranges available from stock and bespoke designs within a few weeks from original concept through to finished product.
The Laminar Sealing Ring - pivotal within a wide scope of industries where hostile environments are the norm - brings a variety of advantages when compared to common O-rings and conventional rubber seals. A labyrinth seal consisting of multiple rings in a groove, the ring’s arrangement and specific orientation is dictated by the application and the environment’s severity.
Produced from carbon spring steel, stainless steel and high temperature alloys, they are ideally suited to form either a single or secondary back-up barrier when high temperatures, corrosive environments and other extreme conditions are prevalent. With no friction with other rotating components, the Laminar Sealing ring performs well in high speed applications, and also occupies small radial and axial space.
TFC can design the rings to be coiled to exact specification in any diameter between 5mm and 2300mm, in single, double or multi-turn form. Because of the unique ‘No-Tooling’ method of manufacture used, even after initial prototypes have been produced, design modifications can be made simply without any additional costs to the customer.
Brian Goode, technical director at TFC, says: “At TFC we have the capability to solve most retention, sealing and pre-load problems, no matter how unusual the application, dimensions or materials. Now that we have adopted a new manufacturing process with the Laminar Sealing Rings, our customers get the results they desire from both standard and bespoke designs faster than ever.”
