Brushless motor technology for the cost of a brushed dc motor

Nidec, one of the largest manufacturers of brushless motors, has introduced its new range of brushless 12 or 24vdc three-phase motors. They provide a cost-effective, higher performance alternative to conventional brushed and stepper motors commonly used in home applicances, office equipment and industrial applications.

They offer compact frame sizes from 24.2 to 48.9mm diameter, up to 17.5W continuous output power and no load speed options from 2150 to 17,800 rpm. In addition, they offer quieter operation, longer life, higher energy efficiency, integrated control electronics, locked rotor protection and low inertia. They are also free of electromagnetic interference problems.

Options include speed control via a PWN input signal, tachometer output and logic controlled clockwise or counter clockwise rotation and stop-start functions.
