Company Profile: No room for doom and gloom!

Unlike the majority of UK based motion systems suppliers, one of LG Motion’s core strengths lies in the combination of its in-house design and manufacturing capability and strong relationships with specialist distribution partners for world-class positioning mechanics and motion control equipment

When LG Motion was formed in 2004, its in-house design and manufacturing capability and early development of strong relationships with specialist distribution partners were identified as key value-add elements within the business plan. Today, after an average of more than twenty percent annual growth and a year-on-year increase in exports, these elements continue to sustain and increase the company's market position for the future - which includes plans to move to a new factory in 2009, doubling capacity to meet predicted order book increases.

LG Motion works closely with its customers and distribution partners to select the most appropriate and competitive products to match the application, providing both component level and system engineering services. For many applications this extends beyond the motion system and includes machine controls, machine frames and specialist technology integration with custom designed components and innovative processes for production, assembly and test.

With potentially difficult times ahead, OEMs, end users and research institutes can maximise their return-on-investment by using LG Motion's systems capability to help lower their development costs and reduce project timescales; concentrating on their own core expertise, without the need to design, assemble or micro-manage large elements of a project.

LG Motion enjoys a wide customer and market base, spanning aerospace, defence, laser & photonics, laboratory automation, life sciences & pharmaceutical, medical devices, research institutes, semiconductor, electronic production & telecommunications and automotive. Customers include BAE Systems, QinetiQ, EADS Astrium, Thales, leading research institutes and universities, Diamond Light Source, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, National Physical Laboratory, Aardman Animation, Gillette, Kodak, Nokia and many, many more.

Technical capabilities include 3D modelling in Autodesk Inventor CAD, full manufacturing facilities with CNC machining centres, system Integration, control panel, training programmes, software programming, on-site installation and full technical support services.

Other LG Motion investment plans include a new apprentice training scheme which started during this summer as a part of a long term employment strategy to guarantee its skills base; and the Company’s quality improvements programme includes ongoing reassessment for ISO 9001 with TUV accreditation.

LG Motion has also recently gained two prestigious awards for local businesses in Basingstoke and North Hampshire as part of the INSPIRE08 Business Awards supported by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and Business Link. LG Motion won the Business of the Year award and managing director, Gary Livingstone won the keenly contested Entrepreneur of the Year award.
