Molex has announced new product launches at this year’s SPS/IPC/Drives exhibition in Nuremberg. In anticipation of the new Power over Ethernet standard IEEE 802.3at, also known as PoE+, which is due to be ratified in 2009, the company has released the HyperJack 1000 PoE+ integrated connector module. The design combines PoE+ controller silicon to manage and deliver 30 Watt Power over Ethernet, coupled with Gigabit PoE+ magnetics, thermal management and a high level of protection against ESD, EFT and EMI. This new standard provides the opportunity for switch makers to increase port power output to 30W and is backwards compatible with the existing 15W IEEE 802.3af standard that is currently in use. Molex had a number of other products on show, including BradCommunications eNetMeter for DeviceNet with NetAlytix software and SST PLC communication modules.
