Linear stage offers high accuracy in a small package
The ALS 20000 linear positioning stage from Aerotech achieves tight
velocity control even at low speeds. Its linear brushless servo motor and
high accuracy linear optical position encoder are directly mounted on the
tabletop, a configuration that eliminates backlash, wind-up and coupling
compliance. And unlike ball screw alternatives, the unit does not suffer
traverse forces and is therefor vibration-free. The standard LE encoder
achieves 1.0 micron resolution, +/-0.6 micron repeatability and +/-5
micron accuracy over the entire travel length. The unit will accelerate
at up to 4g and achieve a velocity of 1m/s without needing lubrication,
thanks to the non-contact nature of the linear motor.
