Monninghoff has created a customised version of its Arcoflex coupling that features four flexing elements for greater misalignment tolerance. Available in the UK from Lenze, the customised unit comprises four Arcoflex size 80 disc packs, each of 180mm diameter. A coupling with two disc packs handles 2.55mm of radial misalignment; doubling the number to four increases this to 5.1mm for an overall increase in length of only 58%. Torsional stiffness remains high at 8.000Nm per degree of twist, and the coupling will operate at speeds in excess of 3,000rpm.
